Education Law and Practice Update for Schools

A concise, two hour workshop covering  recent developments in SEN, with plenty of opportunity for discussion amongst peers.  Topics covered will include:

  • Changes in Local Authority practice away from assessment and statementing toward full delegation of SEN duties
  • SEN budgets, management and self-evaluation
  • Working with the parallel systems of LEA delegated funding and continuing parental rights to statements
  • How schools can best work with parents
  • The increased importance of adjustments for disability and the difference in practice between SEN provision and disability adjustments
  • Admissions and SEN, including negotiation with LEAs regarding statemented children
  • Behaviour, discipline and exclusion in relation to children with SEN.
