EAPG Special Report On Mergers
28th July 2008
EAPG is proud to present a new special report on the subject of charity mergers by advisory council member Dr Robert Meakin, of Stone King Sewell LLP. As many EAPG members will be aware, consolidating and merging charities is a major issue for the charity sector. A report has highlighted that the general public think that there are too many charities and that charities with similar objects should be merged.
Following the Charities Act 2006 and greater scrutiny of public benefit by the Charity Commission, it is possible that more charities will consider merging to increase their public benefit output. Charities Act 2006 has introduced new measures designed to facilitate charity mergers. This special report looks at these new measures and the issues involved with a merger.
