Martha Burnige

Martha qualified at London law firm Nabarro in 2005 working in the Projects and Charity and Not for Profit teams and joined Stone King in 2006. Prior to that she worked in the House of Commons before obtaining a BA (Hons) in Government and Law at The University of Manchester.

Martha acts for a wide variety of clients in the charity and not for profit sector, including setting up new charities, and has advised on mergers and incorporations and set up a number of Community Interest Companies. She has also been involved in conducting governance reviews of existing charities. She has recentlyprovided specific advice to charities on the requirement to obtain Criminal Record Bureau disclosures on staff and volunteers.

More recently she has increased her work in the education sector and has been part of the Academies team at Stone King which is currently involved in 14 academy projects nationwide. Martha has spoken widely on both the new Charities and Companies Acts. She is a member of the Charity Law Association.
