Roy Butler

A graduate of Oxford University, Roy qualified as a solicitor in 1977 and worked for leading law firms in London, Hong Kong and Paris. After obtaining an MBA at INSEAD, he joined Hewlett Packard at its European head office in Geneva. Having returned to the UK he was a partner in a Thames Valley firm before joining Stone King. He is based in Bath but makes regular use of our London office.

Roy has advised organisations such as Manpower, Veolia and SAP and many owner-managed businesses of various kinds. He has also acted for well-known organisations in the charity and education sectors. The main legal directories rate him as a leading corporate lawyer.  Chambers legal directory refers to clients describing him as "efficient, pragmatic and approachable." 

 With a broad range of experience across both Corporate and Commercial work, Roy has a pragmatic approach with an emphasis on effectiveness and business sense. He is a specialist in the buying, selling, funding and reorganising of companies and businesses and also advises on LLP and partnership matters. In addition, Roy has links with foreign law firms through his affiliation with a leading international legal group.
