Charity and voluntary sector work is has always been at the heart of Stone King’s practice. The firm is recognised as one of the leading practices in the UK. We act for many hundreds of voluntary organisations including 189 of the country’s largest charities with activities ranging across a broad spectrum of different parts of the sector.
Our aim is to provide practical solutions to problems based on our in-depth knowledge and experience of charities and how they operate. We understand the environment in which charities operate and that ‘charities mean business’. As a result, we believe in a sector approach that offers the services that charities need delivered by lawyers who work predominantly for charity clients.
Our charity and social enterprise sector group of over 50 lawyers within the firm is headed by Jonathan Burchfield. Within the sector group we have a core group of over 10 specialist charity lawyers, one of the largest in the country, which is led by Ann Phillips across our three offices. The other partners in the team are Robert Meakin (Cambridge and London), Tim Rutherford (Bath and London), Tom Murdoch (London) and Hannah Kubie (London).
