  • International Charities

Advising a leading royal-chartered charity on setting up new international branches and formalising relations with current international branches; including advice on control of charitable funds and Intellectual Property rights.

  • Setting up New Charities

Advising a new medical research charity on a suitable constitution; incorporating the new company and drafting and submitting the application to the Charity Commission for charitable registration.

  • Advising Charities re: s.8 inquiry

Advising the trustees of a large international religious charity in relation to a s.8 inquiry from the Charity Commission.

  • Merger & Hive-offs

Working with a national social research charity in relation to a merger; including advice on constitutional matters and the terms of the merger agreement. Working with several religious charities in hiving-off schools or care institutions to new charitable companies.

  • Constitutional matters

Advising a leading arts charity in its transition from a company to a royal-chartered body.

  • Charities and Business Working Together to Fund Raise

Working with a new internet based project raising funds for numerous leading national charities; including advice on a tax-efficient structure for the enterprise and drafting all fund-raising contracts.

  • Legacy Disputes

Working with an international medical charity in relation to a substantial legacy dispute; in particular advising on the possibilities of an adverse dependency claim and challenge to the Will.

  • Trustee Issues

Review of the position of the Trustees of a national animal charity in relation to duties and responsibilities; including proposals to change the organisation and running of the charity in order to improve current failings.
