Estate Administration

We advise on the steps necessary to wind up a person's estate.

This will include -

  • the steps necessary to identify and value all assets and liabilities
  • the steps necessary to obtain a grant of representation
  • the steps necessary to distribute assets once a grant has been obtained.

Often an estate can include difficult or complicated assets. What if the deceased owned shares in a private family company, or ran a farm? What if the client had a heritage property or valuable works of art? What if the deceased had a substantial portfolio of residential or commercial investment properties?

Whatever the circumstances of the estate and the assets in it, we are able to offer the advice and assistance necessary to deal with all issues arising and to ensure that the estate is wound up in an effective manner.

The skills and experience we have can take the stress and burden away from executors and families at what is already a difficult enough time without having to deal with all the paperwork that needs to be turned around.

We are able to call upon the legal skills available in the rest of the firm, for example –

  • Residential Conveyancing Unit - to deal with residential property
  • Commercial Property Unit- - to advise on commercial property
  • Company Commercial Unit - for help on companies and business interests
  • Charity Unit - for advice on heritage property
  • Dispute Resolution Unit - for assistance on disputes and claims
