How Long Will A Claim Take?
It is not possible to give a specific response to this question, as every claim is different, although we would estimate that 50% of claims resolve within 12 -18 months. A claim may take longer to reach a conclusion if there is a dispute as to who is at fault for the accident. Another factor is the nature of the injuries themselves. As a general rule, any settlement reached is very much full and final. It is therefore important that an independent medical expert has reached a settled medical opinion and prognosis, before settlement negotiations are commenced. It can be quite a while after the initial accident that such a prognosis can be established.
