Transferring the ownership of your home

Whatever your reasons, our experienced property solicitors can advise you. This allows you to release or add someone to the ownership of the property, or the mortgage if one exists. Our residential team has extensive experience in dealing with the various situations where a transfer is required.

For example, many couples decide that they would like to jointly own a property originally bought in one of their names. This can be for personal reasons or for as part of family tax planning and wealth preservation. Our conveyancing lawyers work closely with Stone King’s trusts and tax team to offer advice on different tax planning schemes.

We offer a special property trust service for co-owners of property to govern their ownership and responsibilities.

Sadly, many relationships end in separation or divorce. Assisted by our family law team, we can advise on the options available for dealing with the home in such situations, which may include letting and selling the property. Sometimes it makes more sense to remortgage so that you can release equity and benefit from a better rate of interest.
