By now the long awaited General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) should be fully part of the daily working of your school; but just in case you are not sure, here are some things to check at the start of the year and where to go to get advice.

So:

  • Have you carried out a data protection audit?
  • Have you documented the results in 'Records of Processing Activities'?
  • Have you appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO)?
  • Have you trained staff?
  • Have you amended your Data Protection Policy?
  • Have you sent out privacy notices to all individuals whose personal data you collect or store?
  • Have you reviewed your processes for collecting personal data including forms?
  • Have you reviewed all your data sharing and data processing relationships and updated your legal agreements?

If the answer to any of the above questions is 'No' then please contact us.

Assistance is available under the legal retainer, if you have it, on hourly rates, or through the purchase of blocks of hours. For those who answered 'No' to many of the above questions, you may like to consider purchasing our full GDPR Guidance Pack for State Schools which contains both general guidance and model policies. It has been updated to reflect the Data Protection Act 2018 as well as the GDPR.
