Residential leasehold has been a topic of much attention over recent years. Now, some organisations have provided commitments to change the terms of previous contracts and to repay some of the rent that homeowners have previously paid due to doubling ground rent clauses - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/cma-secures-landmark-commitments-for-leaseholders. This comes as the Government continues its push to reform the law around residential leasehold, including the progressing of the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Bill which is intended to set future ground rents to zero for new leases. Efforts to re-invigorate the system of commonhold ownership also continues.

If you think that your charity or organisation may be in a position to enjoy the benefit of these commitments, please do get in touch if you would like further advice.
