Kids Company trustees and CEO win High Court case
The former trustees and CEO of high-profile charity Kids Company have won a High Court case against the Official Receiver, in its bid to disqualify them as directors for alleged mismanagement of the charity in the run up to its 2015 collapse.
Data Protection vs Charity Regulation
Charities spend a lot of time having to strike balances; that is the nature of the sector. Whether that is deciding what services to cut at a time of financial pressure, or handling a tricky safeguarding issue, trustees and senior management are constantly balancing their charity’s obligations in difficult situations.
Implications to charities on the ending of furlough
At the date of writing, the Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (furlough) has been extended numerous times since its introduction in March 2020. With the current extension (CJRS-E) of the scheme expected to end on 30 April 2021, charities will now need to start considering what the next steps for their organisation will be.
