Dated updated:

This academic year there is an additional bank holiday to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Friday 3rd June 2022. The School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document (‘STPCD’) confirms that teachers will teach one less day for the academic year 2021/22. Schools need to ensure that all staff including term time only and part time staff have the benefit of the additional bank holiday, whether it falls in term time or half term.

For the majority of schools, the bank holiday falls in half term which means schools will need to allocate a different additional closure day to ensure all staff, including teachers and term time only staff have the benefit of the additional bank holiday. For those part time staff who either; would not normally be working on the bank holiday or the additional closure day, because it is not a day of the week that they work, these staff will not receive the benefit of the additional bank holiday and so their holiday entitlement will need to be adjusted accordingly and on a pro-rata basis.

We recommend discussing this with your payroll provider, staff, relevant unions and parents and confirming your arrangements with them.
