The 2020 exam grading system provoked a significant number of statutory requests for personal data made by students and other interested parties wanting access to information relating to assessment grades, rankings and related personal data. We anticipate that individuals will seek access to information about teacher assessed grades and centre assessed grades in a similar way this summer.

Understandably, educational establishments are once again concerned about the likely volume of requests being made in a short space of time. The following questions are being asked: 

  • How long do we have to comply with a request?
  • Can we extend the deadline?
  • Can we delete records?
  • Will anonymisation and pseudonymisation of personal data reduce the number of SARs we have to comply with?
