Stone King LLP was delighted by the response from businesses in Bath who turned out to support its Bath Litter Pick event.

The community initiative took place on Wednesday, September 25 and saw over 40 volunteers clearing rubbish from a stretch of the River Avon as well as a number of surrounding streets, including the Lower Bristol Road, parts of Widcombe and Oldfield Park.

Some 30 bags of rubbish were collected in just one hour, such as discarded plastics, cans and unwanted household items – including a disposable barbecue still wrapped in cellophane, a coat and a bed sheet.

Stone King’s Managing Partner Steven Greenwood said he was delighted by the response.

He said: “It was heartening to see so many businesses wanting to join our initiative to keep Bath litter free.

Commitment to the local community and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are extremely important to us and we were delighted that so many local businesses felt the same.

We are grateful to everyone who gave up an hour of their time to help benefit the city.

Chartered accountants Milsted Langdon said they were pleased to take part in the event.

Dan Kenyon, Milsted Langdon’s General Practice Manager, said: “The Bath Litter Pick was a great initiative to bring the local business community together to keep our World Heritage City free from litter.

Helping to contribute to a nicer environment was one reason why Helen Rich, Director of Taste of Bath, signed up to take part in the litter pick.

Taste of Bath was delighted to support Stone King's initiative for a cleaner and better Bath,” she said.

It’s so important for businesses to engage in their city, we champion local food, but we also want to champion a nicer and better environment for tourists and residents alike. Well done Stone King for organising such a fun and proactive event.

Organisations taking part were Buro Happold, Circus Journal, Event Organisers Network, Fidelius, Girl Monday, Loake, Longmayne Limited, Milsted Landon, Nick Hems, Pippa Rose Lifestyle, Pure Planet, St John’s Foundation, Taste of Bath and Councillors Sue Craig (Lib Dem, Kingsmead) and June Player (Independents, Westmoreland).

Jim Grant, CEO of Fidelius, said: “Our beautiful city of Bath needs to be kept beautiful. We were delighted to support the Big Bath Clean-Up with Stone King’s littler pick initiative”.

Stone King plans to hold further litter picks. Businesses wanting to get involved should email SamanthaWalker@stoneking.co.uk
