We are delighted to have been recognised for our work supporting social enterprises at the Bath Law Clinic with the Pro Bono Award of the Year at the Bristol Legal Awards. The Social Enterprise Clinic is a collaborative effort between Stone King LLP, Bath Spa University, and Citizens Advice B&NES, providing free legal advice to help social enterprises start, grow, and deliver positive impact in their communities.”
Established in March 2021, this innovative clinic is the first of its kind in the UK, dedicated exclusively to supporting social enterprises. The clinic is supported by over 50 Bath Spa University law students and 30 volunteer solicitors across Bath. Students gain vital hands-on experience working alongside qualified lawyers from Stone King, enhancing their legal education while strengthening the clinic’s capacity to serve the community.
As one of the UK’s leading firms advising social enterprises, Stone King is proud to support the Clinic and to bring our deep sector expertise and experience of advising social enterprises with everything from legal setup and restructuring to trading. This award reflects our commitment to access to justice and our passion for helping purpose-driven organisations thrive.
Tim Myers, Senior Lecturer in Law at Bath Business School, Bath Spa University, said: “We are so proud of this award. Stone King has been the perfect partner, not just enabling the Social Enterprise Clinic to earn this recognition, but also to develop a reputation for providing top notch legal advice. Clients and community organisations have expressed to me how helpful the Clinic has been in allowing them to navigate legal hurdles and focus on making an impact in their communities. Stone King's participation and mentorship have also been a boon to our students, helping foster real practice skills so they can thrive in a competitive legal job market.”
