Stone King raises money for charity in the 19th annual Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival

Last Saturday a team from Stone King’s Cambridge office took part in the 19th annual Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival, raising money for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

Competing under the name ‘The Stony Buccaneers’, the team comprised Dagan Finkenrath, Charlotte Rawlinson, James Rawlinson, Chris Jones, Julianna Barker, Ollie Daw, Ben Lucas, Philip Askew, Lucas Atkin, Zak Moktadir, Julie Moktadir, and Jacob Howell-Jones. They joined 44 other teams rowing on the day, reaching the semi-final with nine other teams, and placing 7^th overall. Their best time on the day was 61.23 seconds, the second best time of the entire event!

The weather on the day was changeable, but the Stony Buccaneers were fortunate to have the sun-shine during their races, making for an enjoyable day. Overall, they raised £40 over their target amount of £250 for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

Dagan Finkenrath, captain of the Stony Buccaneers, said:

“A huge thank you to everyone who attended the event and supported our team, The Stony Buccaneers. We’re thrilled to have met our fundraising goal and proud to contribute to the grand total raised for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

“Everyone gave it their all out there, and we held our own against some very strong and well-trained teams. Thankfully, none of us went for a swim - unlike our competitors in the final race!

“I’d like to say a special thank you to Chris Jones for providing the team gazebo and being there at the crack of dawn to sign us up; Ollie Daw, Philip Askew, and Jacob Howell-Jones for travelling from London to join the crew; and finally to Lucas Atkin for sharing his wisdom and techniques from his previous Team GB Dragon Boating experience.

“We’re already looking forward to next year - podium finish and that elusive sub-60 time, here we come!”
