The Third Sector has reported on Baroness Stowell’s speech to the Charity Law Association at its 26th annual conference.

Baroness Stowell is Chair of the Charity Commission.

Nicole Reed, an Associate Solicitor in Stone King’s Charity & Social Enterprise Team, commented: “The move to de-register failing charities, rather than offering support or mediation, marks an interesting change in direction from the Commission’s previous reassurance that closure would be the absolute last resort.” Nicole also noted that Baroness Stowell’s focus on sector collaboration was timely and that: “The Charity Commission has shown itself to be efficient and willing to play its part in response to Covid-19.
