Stone King has cemented its position as one of the country’s leading education law firms in the prestigious Legal 500 directory.

The firm has once again been ranked as a top tier practice for the expert advice it provides to hundreds of schools in the 2015 guide to the UK’s top legal teams.

The influential guide says: “Stone King LLP ‘should rightly be in the top band of education practices’. Roger Inman leads its national team, and advises many schools and further education institutions. He acted for 28 local secondary schools in securing £23m in interim relief funding from the Department for Education.”

Mr Inman is praised for being “very thorough”, while fellow lawyer Stephen Ravenscroft is valued for his “in-depth knowledge of academies”. Education partner Graham Burns is also recommended in the latest guide which adds that Stone King’s education work crosses over with the firm’s charity practice.

“Expertise includes academy conversions and other institutional changes, Equality Act issues in admissions, and employment law,” it says. “Clients include independent and state schools, and Oxbridge colleges.”

Mr Burns and John Clarke, who heads the independent school practice, are both named as leading individuals in the 2015 Legal 500 guide.

Stone King’s Managing Partner Steven Greenwood said: “To have been independently recognised as a national leader in education law for several years running is a tremendous achievement and recognises the very high standards of service that we offer to our education clients nationwide. Our education team has been further strengthened following a number of senior appointments and promotions.”
