Pay award for school support staff 2018 and 2019

Pay award for school support staff 2018 and 2019

Date updated:

As you may have seen in the letter from the TU Joint Secretaries on 10 April 2018; “Agreement has been reached between the National Employers and the NJC Trade Union Side on rates of pay applicable from 1 April 2018 and 1 April 2019”.

If you are a Maintained school and use the local government pay scales to pay your support staff in conjunction with National Joint Council (NJC) terms and conditions then the new pay rates and allowances should be applied.

If you are an Academy or MAT you will need to make a decision as to whether to apply the increase or not. This decision may be influenced by any commitment you have made during previous TUPE consultations.

If you follow pay arrangements other than the NJC terms and conditions then the new rates or allowances will not apply and it is at the discretion of the School (through their Pay Policy) as to what decision is made with regards to the pay points and allowances, however, you will need to ensure that your minimum pay point is within the statutory guidance.

It may be that the above changes will result in a need to review your current Pay Policy. If you need any assistance or advice regarding the above, our team of Human Resources professionals will be able to assist you.

Current HR Retainer clients should contact their assigned regional contact.
