Stone King LLP has welcomed Julie Moktadir as a Senior Associate to support the national firm’s strategy to develop its Immigration Law services

Julie has extensive knowledge of the voluntary and private sectors and brings her expertise in policy work, immigration and asylum law to the firm. She has advised organisations and individuals on a broad range of immigration issues, including UK organisations recruiting from abroad and matters affecting European nationals employed in the UK.

As Head of Immigration at the Department at the Royal College of Nursing, Julie advised on all aspects of immigration cases and carried out extensive policy work. She successfully lobbied on policy issues relating to income restrictions placed on nurses who are pursuing Indefinite Leave to Remain. She also worked on nursing to be included on the shortage occupation list for the UK.

Having started her legal career at Leonard & Co in Southampton, where she spent 6 years, Julie has also worked as a Consultant with a focus on publically funded and private immigration and asylum work, including applications, appeals and judicial reviews. Julie has developed her management skills as former Chief Executive of national charity IPSEA, which provides independent legal advice to parents of children and young people with special educational needs and disability (SEND).

At Stone King, which has offices in Bath, Leeds, London and Cambridge, Julie will use her expertise to develop immigration related matters and support clients across the firm’s sectors.

Steven Greenwood, Managing Partner at Stone King LLP, says: “I’m delighted to welcome Julie Moktadir to Stone King to strengthen and expand our work on Immigration. She brings with her invaluable knowledge and a great deal of experience of the laws, policies and processes that make up this distinct area of work. She will be a real asset to our firm.”
