Data Protection during Brexit

Data Protection during Brexit

Date updated:
Literature

Brexit will add additional layers of complexity for UK organisations’ compliance with data protection law. New legal requirements will come into force at the end of the transition period (31 December 2020). Some of the new requirements will apply to all UK organisations, for example these concerning cross-border transfers of personal data and requirements to update internal data protection documentation. Others will be specific to those organisations that have presence in the EU or carry out certain activities involving EU individuals. If you are wondering what will happen to the GDPR from 1 January 2021 and have questions on how to prepare your organisation for the changes ahead, check out our Information Law Q&A session.
