Converting to a MAT

Converting to a MAT

If you are an established Single Academy Trust (SAT) and are looking to restructure the SAT to form a Multi Academy Trust (MAT), we at Stone King are well equipped to guide you through the process.

Through our extensive experience with SAT to MAT transfers, our step by step approach will ensure that the project runs smoothly and is successfully completed by your anticipated deadline.

Our comprehensive service includes:

  • Preparing new Articles of Association; from experience this element of our work is the most intensive, as the drafting will need to take account of the requirements and current ethos of your school.
  • Amending the existing single Funding Agreement and restate it in the form of a Master Funding Agreement (setting out general terms which apply to all academies operated by the MAT) and a separate Supplemental Funding Agreement for each school.
  • Change of company name (if applicable); this may be needed to reflect the fact that the academy trust operates more than one school and may be required to distinguish between the founder academy and the MAT.

We will allocate a specific team to your MAT project to ensure you know who you are dealing with at all times, with a partner overseeing the project.

We will work with you to control and manage your legal costs and wherever possible we can work to fixed fees.

Maintaining a strong relationship with our clients is at the heart of Stone King. Once restructured, Stone King provides a full range of support services to ensure the MAT can deal with any challenges, and support will be provided to bring schools into the MAT.
