Family Mediation Voucher Scheme extended to March 2026
Stone King welcomes the extension of a government scheme, which gives eligible separating couples up to £500 worth of vouchers to use on mediation. The Family Mediation Voucher Scheme will now run until March 2026.
Family mediation is a process which sees couples work through their differences with a trained and accredited mediator to reach agreements, such as how to split assets or how children share their time between their parents, rather than going to court.
Mediation is often less costly than family court proceedings, both in terms of time and money, and aims to reach the best outcomes for both parties in a collaborative and non-adversarial environment.
Stephen Burke, who is Chair of The Family Mediation Council, said: "Analysis of the family mediation voucher scheme has shown it to be successful in helping people make important agreements without the need to go to court. The FMC welcomes its extension, not least as this will continue to ensure that families on low incomes can access mediation to help them resolve conflict."
