Alison is a highly experienced Governance Professional working in further and higher education. Up until December 2023, she was governance advisor and clerk to the corporation of a large general further education college providing all aspects of clerking and company secretary services.
Before working in further education governance, Alison worked for over 25 years in higher education management roles, heading functions including exams and awards, academic quality assurance and governance services.
Alison is legally qualified and has provided and managed in-house legal services for a large university.
Alison’s specific practitioner experience within further and higher education includes:
- Succession planning, search and recruitment of new members.
- Providing induction and CPD for board members and audit committee members in their duties to ensure they can appropriately support and challenge their executive team
- Leading on developing and implementing policies for effective governance, conflict resolution, international student visa management, and academic quality assurance amongst other things.
- Helping organisations and their governing boards prepare for registrations, inspections, quality reviews and similar engagements.
Since January 2024, Alison has been conducting external board reviews as a Stone King consultant.
