Chris is an associate solicitor in the Commercial Property Team and joined Stone King in January 2018. He advises a range of clients across the business, charity, and education sectors.
Having worked in commercial property since 2007 and having qualified as a solicitor in January 2014, Chris brings with him a wealth of experience from his time at Debenhams Ottaway and Eversheds.
Chris advises on all non-contentious areas of land and commercial property law, including sales and acquisitions, business leases, estate management, conditional contracts, development, property finance, charity property, and education property.
Chris sees the most important aspect of his practice as being a good listener and trusted advisor, so clients achieve what they want from a project or transaction, and they feel that this has been achieved within his client’s desired time limits and at best value.
Chris acts for many of the firm’s charity clients, from small theatre companies, charitable foundations in the arts, religious charities, through to the larger nationally recognised charities. Whether he is advising clients on taking a lease of new premises, or securing funding against property to enable a charity to continue its valuable work, Chris has the charity law expertise to lead our clients successfully through a transaction from start to finish.
Chris brings a thorough yet pragmatic approach to advising business clients, whether they are landowners or tenants. Chris understands that each client has its own needs and will have its own preferences in the way that work is carried out for them, and the way in which we communicate with you. Chris’s clients range from innovative London based start-ups taking a lease of their first premises, through to estate management work for major landowners, including City of London livery companies.
Chris is our commercial property representative for clients in the social finance sector. Chris works alongside the firm’s other specialists to provide advice on all aspects of property law, whether that be at start-up phase, or in relation to re-financing where there is property or land element to a project. Chris sees his work as being at the forefront of developments in this sector; with a present focus on advising on property matters where impact investment is at the heart of our client’s objectives.
Chris is the trusted first point of contact for many of our clients in the education sector. Academy trusts are now major landowners, so the service that Chris provides will include guiding his clients through the complexities of a land transaction in the education sector from academy conversion, academy transfers, leases to third party occupiers such as nurseries and play schools, through to complex and major transactions such as new build free schools, or options for the sale of school land to developers.
