Joanna Phillips
Trainee Solicitor

Joanna is a trainee solicitor in the Business Property team, having previously worked as a Paralegal in the team since joining Stone King in September 2020. Joanna previously worked in commercial property for the public sector at a firm in London before commencing her legal studies in 2019.

Business Property

Joanna's experience in the Business Property Team includes acting on sales of licensed premises, acquisitions, grants and renewals of commercial leases for both landlords and tenants, various leasehold matters, and advising on a variety of licensed property issues. Joanna acted on the re-drafting of a suite of standard precedent documents for use across the a client’s large tenanted estate of licensed premises. 

Further experience includes acting on lease terminations including surrender and settlement deals. Joanna has acted on complex structuring deals, multi-property lease variation and renewal deals, as well as rent concession deals for business leases in the Covid-19 pandemic.

Private Client

Joanna frequently deals with Private Client Property matters including high-value, mixed-use, or quasi-agricultural transactions, re-mortgages, transfers of equity, licences, first registrations, and lifetime equity leases. Joanna assists Real Estate clients with transactions including promotion agreements, easements, title investigation matters, and sale-and-leaseback transactions.
 

Joanna studied BA in Music at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2016 with a 2:1.

Prior to joining Stone King, Joanna went on to study the GDL at BPP University Law School in Bristol, achieving a Distinction.

Joanna is currently studying the LLM LPC at BPP University part-time on the weekends, alongside her training contract.
