Karine Chevalier-Watts
Paralegal and Certified Translator

Karine is a bilingual French/English Paralegal in Stone King’s International and Cross-Border Team, dealing with matters with an international or cross-border element.  

As a Chartered Linguist in Education & Translation and sworn legal translator registered with the French and British authorities, and with the Chartered Institute of Linguists. Karine provided Stone King with multilingual translations for seven years before joining the firm as a paralegal and certified translator in September 2024.

As part of her work at Stone King, Karine provides administrative support to the International & Cross Border team of solicitors. She assists with new work enquiries, carrying out work for both colleagues and clients of the firm. She assists with UK and overseas probates, estate planning, French conveyancing services and drafting documents and producing research as needed. She is also involved in the marketing activities of the team, providing material for the website and social media and participating in PR events. Through her personal involvement in the charity sector, Karine has joined the Stone King Charity Legacy team, contributing ideas to promote the firm’s charity work.

As a chartered and qualified translator Karine also provides in-house sworn legal translations of official documents such as Wills, Grants of Probate, Powers of Attorney, Contracts, Affidavits, civil registry certificates and Articles of Association.

As a Chartered Linguist in Education, Karine has also in the past worked with

  • The British Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office.
  • The Chartered Institute of Linguists in London.
  • The French Ministry of Education

Karine also established and ran her own language services business for over a decade.

  • France - BA in Modern Languages from the prestigious Aix-en-Provence university. 
  • France - CAPES (Certificat d’Aptitude au Professorat de l’Enseignement du Second degré), thus becoming a fully qualified language teacher.
  • UK - three-year vocational degree in Business studies with French and Law as specialist subjects. Level 3 diploma in Business studies from the Royal Society of Arts. 
  • UK - admitted as a full member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists
  • UK - Awarded the prestigious double title of Chartered Linguist in Education & Translation, recognised worldwide (2017).
  • Karine’s translation business KLAS Languages, was elected as an associate member of the Association of Translation Companies, representing the interests of language service companies in the UK and internationally.

In her spare time, Karine enjoys reading biographies of illustrious personalities and watching real-life documentaries and foreign movies. She is highly interested in international diplomatic affairs, loves travelling, discovering new cultures, visiting museums and art galleries. She is also a keen environmentalist and enjoys long walks in the countryside and at the seaside. Karine is also very much involved in charity work and after 20 years volunteering at Cats Action Trust N&W Wilts as a General Administrator, Committee Member and Trustee, Karine has now joined Ménière’s Society, the UK's leading charity for vestibular disorders as a new Trustee.

Karine was awarded Chartership status in Education and Translation by the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London in 2015; she was elected Chair of the Translating Division of the Chartered Institute of Linguists for 6 consecutive years between 2018 and 2024. Her business KLAS Languages was elected Associate Member of the Association of Translation Companies in 2019, reflecting the growth of her expanding business.
