Kate joined Stone King LLP in December 2021 in the firm’s Information Law team in the Birmingham office.
Kate advises clients on the full spectrum of information law matters including; dealing with statutory requests for information under the UK GDPR, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004; drafting data processing agreements, data sharing agreements and privacy notices; advising on general data protection compliance and data breach management.
Kate acts for a broad range of clients including schools (both state-funded and independent), charities, social enterprise and businesses.
Before joining Stone King LLP, Kate completed her training contract with Davies and Partners Ltd in Bristol and qualified into their Clinical Negligence team. Kate subsequently joined the Healthcare team at Capsticks LLP in Birmingham, where she specialised in inquests, court of protection proceedings and information law. Following this, Kate joined the data protection team at Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Council where she was the lead data protection specialist supporting the Data Protection Officer across the two Councils.
In addition to her specialism in information law, Kate has a wealth of public law experience within the healthcare and local authority context.
Kate studied Law at Cardiff University and completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Birmingham, gaining a distinction.
Outside of work, Kate is kept very busy by her two young children but also enjoys running, reading fiction and dabbling in art.
