Lucas is a lawyer specialising in the following practice areas:

Lucas helps run Stone King’s information law practice. He advises charities, companies & corporations, educators, public authorities, political parties and non-profit / social purpose / philanthropic organisations.

Prior to joining Stone King, Lucas:

  • trained and qualified at Hill Dickinson;
  • worked as a dual-qualified solicitor for Stephenson Harwood in Singapore;
  • helped start and build Bates Wells’ data privacy department, being promoted from Solicitor to Associate;
  • was Senior Associate and then promoted to Head of Data Privacy at Greenwoods; and
  • was Privacy Lead at ITV Studios.

  • Helping many organisations of differing nature and purpose prepare for & respond to requirements of modern data protection & e-privacy law (such as the International Rescue Committee, National Audit Office, 38 Degrees, Open Society Foundations and Taylor Wimpey).
  • Advising the Labour Party on the data protection, defamation and privacy legal issues arising from the unauthorised leak of its internal report on antisemitism (i.e. the substance of the Forde report).
  • Providing content compliance and review services on TV programmes that speak truth to power and demand accountability (such as Mr Bates v the Post Office, Peston and Tonight).
  • Advising the University of Cambridge and Cambridge Enterprise Limited on various freedom of information requests.
  • Helping Oxfam with the information law aspects of its crisis management response to the Haiti scandal.
  • Advising The Garden Productions on practical steps to comply with data protection & privacy law when making 24 Hours in A&E and 24 Hours in Police Custody.
  • Advising Omaze on its demographics-driven targeted advertising strategy.
  • Advising ITV Studios on the responsible implementation of AI SaaS solutions in the production process and a key contributor to ICO / PACT / Equity / UK broadcaster consultations on the legal impact of AI / ML in TV production.
  • Advising numerous online retailers on their response to protect customers and employees following the downstream impact of a serious cybercriminal attack on a major UK bank.
  • Helping a neurodivergence charity with an ICO investigation after it was adversely impacted by deliberate activist hacking.
  • Advising an international conflict armament reduction campaign organisation on multi-jurisdictional requests to disclose information about suspected arms dealers to law enforcement agencies.
