Rod joined Stone King in January 2013 as a partner in the Trusts and Estates team in London. He specialises in advising on, and drafting, UK, international and cross-border Wills and trusts, Powers of Attorney, applications for Deputyship and the administration of trusts and estates.
Opportunities to save tax are at the forefront of Rod's advice which clients find easy to understand, no-nonsense and practical. He is also experienced in working through tax disclosure facilities and challenging decisions made by HMRC, particularly on issues of domicile.
Rod has enjoyed notable successes advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries of estates and trusts who have become dissatisfied with their previous solicitors. This includes challenging legal fees.
Rod is always happy to explore clients’ concerns on the 'phone or face-to-face working to fixed fees agreed in advance. He works closely with the Private Client Property, Family and International and Cross-Border teams to provide a complete private client service. Rod trained at Gordon Dadds, Mayfair, qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and became a partner in 2003.
Rod is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), has been awarded the STEP Advanced Certificate in Cross-Border Estates with distinction, sits on the Law Society’s Wills and Equity Committee, is Observer to the Law Society’s Capital Taxes sub-committee and is a member of HMRC’s Agents’ Advisory Group for Trusts and Estates.
Legal 500, 2017, describes him as a ‘key figure’.
