Xander May
Solicitor

Xander is a Solicitor working in the Immigration Team in our Leeds Office. After qualifying as a Solicitor in September 2024, she joined Stone King in October 2024. Xander has advised both individuals and businesses on a wide range of immigration matters, including points based visa applications, sponsorship licenses, and EU Settlement Scheme issues. She is committed to providing thorough and clear advice, and supporting clients through the complexities of UK immigration law.  

Xander began her legal career as a paralegal at a regional boutique Immigration firm in Sheffield in 2021. She qualified as a Solicitor in September 2024, and began working at Stone King in October 2024 as a Solicitor in the Immigration Team in Leeds. During her training contract, she specialised solely in Immigration Law, covering both personal and business matters. She has experience advising both individuals and businesses on a wide range of matters and applications for entry clearance and leave to remain such as, Skilled Worker, Minister of Religion, Sole Representatives of an Overseas Business and Students. She also advises on applications for indefinite leave to remain, British citizenship, and late applications under the EU Settlement Scheme.

Xander has experience advising businesses on the acquisition and maintenance of their sponsorship licenses, SMS issues, and advising on all compliance related issues. During the latter months of her training contract, she developed expertise in challenging unlawful decisions, and can prepare and assist with pre-action protocol letters, first tier tribunal appeals, and applications for permission to appeal at the upper tribunal and court of appeal. 

Xander graduated with a 2:1 in the LLB in Law from Liverpool John Moores University in 2021. She then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course alongside a Masters in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Law in Sheffield in 2022, in which she received a Distinction.

Xander volunteers with the University of Law in Sheffield as a Post Graduate Mentor, offering career and exam guidance and support to current and future LPC and SQE students.

Outside of work, she enjoys both watching and competing in athletics, and is proud to represent the City of Sheffield and Dearne Athletics Club, South Yorkshire, and Yorkshire, in the Senior Women's High Jump. She enjoys going on long walks at the weekend in the peak district.
