'Collaborative Law Divorce', or 'Collaborative Practice' is a way for divorcing or separating couples to work together with specially trained collaborative lawyers to resolve disputes respectfully without going to court. You and your lawyers will take part in a series of face-to-face meetings with the aim of reaching an agreed settlement. Once an agreement is reached, your divorce can be finalised and a Consent Order sent to the court for approval.
The benefits of Collaborative Practice are that open communication allows both parties to express their needs for moving forward, there is full disclosure of the facts and information and you can negotiate respectfully without involvement of the courts.
