More and more schools are being caught in the middle of managing tricky separated parents issues.  Without careful management,  schools can all too often find themselves being caught up unwittingly in parental conflict and left unsure as to what they can do, how information can be shared, or how best to support the student. These situations can be complex, and getting it wrong risks complaints and confusion. This bespoke training, delivered by family law expert and accredited mediator Rebecca Eels, is designed to give schools clear practical guidance specific to their situation so that they can act with confidence, whilst still providing support to students where needed.

This training is delivered by way of a live one-hour webinar. A suitable time and date will be arranged, and the training will be delivered in the style of a workshop with Rebecca Eels. Before the training date, a meeting will be arranged between Rebecca and any relevant staff members to discuss topics and scenarios that will be beneficial to cover.

Whilst the one-hour webinar will cover family law issues and help you to recognise and understand issues pertinent to separated parents in conflict, Rebecca will tailor her presentation to provide family law information relevant to scenarios that you may have come across. There will also be an opportunity at the end for staff to ask further questions  - you will also be supplied with the presentation slides to keep and review. If you would like this training to be delivered in person, please get in contact with our team to arrange. In-person training will incur additional cost.

The training covers common family issues that schools may encounter, including:

  • parental responsibility;
  • family court orders;
  • the differences between education and family law;
  • common school scenarios; and
  • safeguarding and neutrality.

Rebecca Eels is a Partner at Stone King and a family law specialist with more than 25 years’ experience. She is widely respected not only for her work as a solicitor in complex divorce matters and child law cases, but also for her role as an accredited child-inclusive mediator. Rebecca understands how family separation, parental responsibility issues, and court orders can intersect with the day-to-day lives of children – including how those complexities reach into schools.

Her portfolio includes substantial work with schools across England and Wales. Rebecca combines legal precision with sensitivity, and she is especially skilled at making the law accessible, practical, and actionable for school leaders and teachers.

With Rebecca leading this training, schools are guided by someone who not only knows the law in detail but has walked beside families and institutions through many real-life situations. Her approach emphasises clear, sensible solutions, informed by years of casework, and she is committed to helping staff feel confident that they are doing the right thing for their students and for the school.

This training is delivered via webinar, and costs £1050 + VAT. If you would like to purchase this training, please complete the form at the bottom of this page. What our clients say

"Rebecca/Stone King's session with our Heads and senior school staff has supported confidence in managing parental conflict, allowing us to distill down to the critical information to both support families and bring clarity to the school's role.  The use of 'real life' examples and the willingness to use challenges within our own settings as part of the session allowed us to explore the application of the legal framework and guidance in practice."
