‘Every child achieving and thriving’

‘Every child achieving and thriving’ sets out the Government’s plans to reform the education sector so that all children can succeed. With a significant emphasis on addressing the SEND crisis in schools and college, the paper is broad, highlighting the need to shift from a narrow focus to a broader, more inclusive experience, ensuring children who have been “sidelined” are fully included and that families and communities re‑engage with education.

The paper responds to rising school and college absence, pressures on families, and a loss of confidence in education as a route to a better life. It outlines measures to rebuild support services around schools and colleges, as well as tackling child poverty by expanding eligibility for free school meals and ending the 2‑child limit.

The white paper aims to take the education system into the 2030s with a model that not only raises academic standards, but also enables children to “thrive as people”, emphasising broad curricula, evidence‑based teaching and long‑term system reform.

Here, we’ll be sharing insights from our expert lawyers with specialisms in education law, SEND, employment, governance and estate law, as well as family matters, on this groundbreaking white paper.
