The Keep Britain Working report was released in November 2025. It was commissioned by the UK Government in 2023 to consider the ‘deep issues surrounding ill health and disability in the workplace’. One of the findings was that poor workplace health costs UK employers an estimated £85 billion annually, with sickness absence alone costing an average of £120 per day in lost profit.

In an economic environment where employers are under considerable financial pressures turning their attention to effectively managing sickness leave could reduce workplace absence levels, improve morale and productivity and save money.

In this webinar we will look at the recommendations from the report and discuss whether they are achievable and explore practical steps organisations could take now to manage sickness absence and reduce the costs associated with this, including improving processes and communication.
