Jessica Ventham

Jess joined Stone King in 2021.
Jess is a Solicitor in the Construction department with a caseload which is both contentious and non-contentious.
Working with clients from the Business, Education, Faith and Charities sector, Jess is often instructed as Employers Agent or Trusted Advisor for major projects. Coming from an insurance background, Jess also conducts matters involving insolvency, building warranties and subrogated claims for insurers.
Jess works with clients from the Education sector in the preparation and submission of CiF Bids.
Alongside acting as Employers Agent, Jess provides advice concerning Ecology, Sustainability, Decarbonisation, and matters involving planning consent, building insurance and warranties, (NHBC, LABC and alike) and the Wildlife & Countryside Act.
Jess’s dispute work includes matters at litigation and adjudication, and the pursuit or defense of subrogated claims for insurers. Jess also works alongside loss adjusters and insolvency practitioners.
Jess is currently working with several Education clients regarding the implementation of a pilot scheme run out by DfE for the provision of Ground Source Heat Pumps. Jess is also instructed on several disputes concerning defective installation and performance of solar panel arrays, and a claim concerning biomass boilers.
Other disputes currently being run include defective workmanship by contractors, professional negligence claims against Architect and Surveyors, and matter involving Bats discovered in a school roof during refurbishment work.
After receiving a BA (Hons) in Criminology and Social Policy from Loughborough University, Jess completed a Graduate Diploma in Law with the University of Law.
Jess completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law achieving a Distinction.
Jess is currently studying a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
Future studies include becoming an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Jess is a very keen competitive athlete and loves to run, swim and cycle and takes part in Iron Women competitions.
