Stone King has recently appointed Adam McRae-Taylor as a Senior Associate to join the national law firm’s Independent Schools’ team.

Adam, who is based in the firm’s Manchester office, began his legal career at a Magic Circle firm in the City of London, where he specialised in employment law before moving to focus on working with SMEs at a West End practice. Following this, Adam worked in-house for a charity for two years, subsequently making the decision to specialise in acting for independent schools and charities, which he has been doing exclusively for the past seven years.

Of his appointment, Adam said: “I am deeply excited to continue my career with a firm that has values which clearly align with my own. Stone King has made a name for itself in the education, charity and faith sectors, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the continuation of this work going forwards.”

In particular, Adam will be working with clients on operational education matters and employment law advice.

Stephen Ravenscroft, Partner and Head of Independent Schools, welcomed Adam to the team: “We are delighted to have Adam on board. His extensive experience in supporting independent schools with operational and employment advice means that his addition at this time of significant change and challenge in the sector is perfectly timed.”

Stone King operates nationally with offices in Bath, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, London and Manchester. It specialises in the sectors of Business & Social Enterprise, Charity, Education, Faith, Private Client, and Public & Regulatory law. The firm is consistently top-ranked by independent legal guides Chambers and the Legal 500, and has been named a Best Law Firm for 2025 by The Times.
