Staff from Stone King's Cambridge office took part in the Chariots of Fire race on Sunday to raise money for the Magpas Air Ambulance charity.
Fresh from their exertions in the Dragon Boat Festival on the River Cam last weekend, the Cambridge team enthusiastically took on the challenge of charity sporting activities on back-to-back weekends.
They joined hundreds of runners in a closed road relay race spanning a two mile route through Cambridge city centre, starting and finishing on the Queen's Green. Each person in the team completed one loop before handing over the baton to their next runner.
Now in its 31st year, the Chariots of Fire has, to date, raised over £1.5m for local charities. All proceeds from this year's event will go to the Magpas Air Ambulance charity, which provides hospital-level healthcare for accidents and critical situations in the air and on land, operating across the region 24/7. The charity aims to raise £100,000 to support the continuation of its vital services.
Anna Hyde, Principal HR Consultant from Stone King, said: "Thank you to all who came along to support us at the Chariots of Fire race on Sunday, and a special thank you to those who took part. The race is one of Cambridgeshire's largest annual charity events, and it was easy to see why.
"We're all familiar with the Oscar-winning film which the race is inspired by, and it's really special that the route of the charity race recreates an iconic scene from the film of the race around Trinity College Great Court.
"The positivity of all the runners, the scenery we ran past and the enthusiastic crowds all contributed to an amazing atmosphere and really helped spur on us runners."
Congratulations to Stone King's team who finished in 127th place overall out of 173 teams, with a time of 1 hour and 30 minutes. The team comprised 6 runners: Anna Hyde, Chris Jones, Julie Moktadir, Roger Inman, Julianna Barker and Jamie Krzowski.
So far, the team has raised £270 and would welcome any further donations.
