Philip Askew helps train lawyers on declaration of trusts and property gifting

Philip, a Partner in Stone King’s Private Client Property Team and recently “retired” member of the Law Society Property Section Committee, delivered a webinar along with two other practitioners on behalf of the Law Society Property Section. The webinar covered how a declaration of trust can be used for joint owners to set out their respect of financial interests in the property, and what key issues to be aware of and alert to when drafting and taking instructions on them.

The webinar also focussed on gifts of assets – including property – and matters to be alert to, including knowing who you can and cannot act for, mental capacity risks, and tax matters relating to gifting in lifetime, as well as challenges that may be raised.
