On the 26 October 2024, the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 came into effect, placing a legal duty on employers to take reasonable steps to prevent the sexual harassment of their employees; including third-party sexual harassment.
This is a proactive, anticipatory duty, meaning employers must take steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. Actions that employers should consider include ensuring that they have a recently reviewed and effective antiharassment policy in place that employees are aware of. Employers need to undertake regular risk assessments to identify where sexual harassment may occur and take action to prevent it. Part of an employer’s duty will be to ensure their staff receive adequate training, and to this end, Stone King is very pleased to have launched a brand new, customisable training course. We have created this training product in collaboration with our expert HR consultants and employment solicitors, specifically to assist employers in meeting the preventative duty.
The course itself comes with access to an example risk assessment, and an action plan builder document, both of which will provide excellent starting points to ensure compliance with the Act. The course is made up of three modules; all staff must complete module one, which is available in both long and short versions. Module two is specifically designed for senior leaders, or those with overall responsibility for the organisation. Module three is for line managers, and contains information and guidance relevant to their roles and responsibilities. We’ve developed the course to be engaging, and it consists of written information, videos with our experts, and simple quizzes to test your knowledge.
The course is now available to purchase. Find out more about Stone King’s ‘Preventing sexual harassment in the workplace’ training.
