The Burgundy Book has been updated for the first time in 23 years. Although there are no substantive differences, updates reflect changes in legislation since the third edition was published in 2000.

Additionally, gender-neutral pronouns have been adopted throughout the Book, to promote inclusivity. This includes the adoption of new wording in Section 5. The new wording underlines that maternity provisions can apply to pregnant women, trans men and non-binary people.
