Stone King hold sessions on immigration and employment law in education at HEYSBL event

At this year’s HEYSBL Network Event, Head of HR Consultancy Craig Vincent, Senior HR Consultant Penny Walters, employment lawyer Amy Berry and immigration lawyer Sarah Keeley outlined key developments relevant to senior leaders and governance professionals in the education sector.

Held on Tuesday 27 February, the programme also included a presentation from the Department for Education’s Commercial Team on procurement alongside sessions from other speakers on key issues for HEYSBL members.

Sarah’s talk covered the impact of immigration reforms for educational organisations.

This session placed these reforms in the context of UK schools’ ongoing recruitment crisis examining the option for educational organisations of sponsoring overseas nationals.

Providing a comprehensive overview of current rules in place for sponsoring overseas workers Sarah also discussed the government’s five-point plan for immigration explaining the impacts for the sector.

Craig, Penny and Amy’s talk covered developments in employment law and changes relevant to HR professionals in the education sector.

This included changes relating to the Strikes Act, holiday pay and flexible working alongside a range of other significant developments.
