This month has seen the inaugural South West Acas Education Forum take place in Bristol, on the topic of disciplinary investigations.

Stone King, recognised as a leading law firm in the education sector, has partnered with Acas and together launched an Acas Education Forum in West Midlands and another in East Midlands earlier this year. The success of these termly gatherings led to Acas agreeing to launch a similar initiative in the South West, with the first South West Forum taking place on 4 July at Hilton Hotel in Bristol. Future Forums are already planned in the region on various subjects.

The Forum is primarily aimed at HR and Business Managers from Schools and Colleges but also individuals and organisations who want to explore innovative ways to bridge the gap between education and the realities of the modern workplace. Forum members take part in seminars and discussions relevant to the sector.

Acas (The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) receives a high number of calls from the education sector and, together with Stone King’s expertise, these Forums share best practice and proactive learning. They provide the opportunity for like-minded professionals to learn and share in an open, honest environment that encourages collaboration and proactive learning.

“From our experience of setting up two Forums in the Midlands we found the events were being very well received by its members, primarily because they are an informal environment in which they can ask all sorts of questions with the right expertise on hand,” says Surinder Dhillon, senior associate in Stone King’s employment team.

Membership is free, with Forum members given priority places at events.
