He covered a number of topics for both employers and employees, including TUPE and why applying a fair selection process for redundancy is crucial.
"This is likely to involve putting in place an objective set of criteria and applying that consistently," he said of the fair selection process.
"If no such scheme is put in place I would be looking very carefully at whether the dismissal was unfair."
