Dr Ron Hill

Ron conducts a wide range of external governance reviews of education providers for Stone King, including general further education colleges, sixth form colleges, multi-academy trusts, and organisations delivering education across the United Kingdom.

Ron is an Hon. Professor of Education at the University of Stirling and has a particular interest in the governance of education institutions and organisations.

He is an Associate of the College Development Network (CDN Scotland), and, during 2020/21, reviewed the governance of Scottish colleges for externally facilitated governance effectiveness. Ron’s role with CDN includes various studies seeking to support a development programme for Scotland’s colleges.

Ron is a Visiting Professor at the University of Sunderland, with a particular interest in the leadership and governance of education in the UK.

Being a qualified teacher, Ron has also been a local authority education officer, as well as a further and higher education college Vice Principal.

Ron holds degrees from the universities of Hull, Manchester, Leicester and Leeds.

He has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Durham University, as well as a Certificate in F.E. Governance (Level 5) validated by I.C.S.A. (Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators).
 

Ron has research interests in the processes and practices of governing educational provision.

Outside of work, he enjoys studying local history, especially the provision of education. He has recently completed a study of a local school board in the late nineteenth century.
 

Continuing to successfully complete a wide range of governance reviews that have, in various ways, improved the way governing boards make decisions for the benefits of teachers and learners.
