Julianna Barker
Chartered Legal Executive

Julianna is an Apprentice Legal Executive working in the Immigration and Employment teams in Cambridge. Julianna works cross sector on all types of immigration matters including recruiting from overseas, making applications under the UK’s points-based immigration system, applying to the EU Settlement Scheme and right to work checks. Julianna also works in the employment team and supports businesses, charities, individuals and schools on a wide range of employment law related issues.

Professional Experience
Expertise Area 1 – Immigration law

Julianna has worked in our Immigration Team since September 2018 and works closely with our Head of Immigration, Julie Moktadir and advises charities, schools, businesses and individuals on a wide range of immigration matters. Julianna provides full support to our clients by completing applications such as sponsorship licence applications or visa applications, advising on SMS issues, advising on recruitment from overseas and dealing with ad hoc immigration queries on various immigration related issues. Julianna has further delivered training on the sponsoring workers under the Skilled Worker route and to religious organisations on sponsoring Ministers of Religion.

Expertise Area 2 – Employment law

Julianna also works in our Employment Law team and works across all sectors represented by Stone King advising on a range of employment law related matters. Julianna works closely with the Partners in the Team and supports clients with employment tribunal claims, reviewing contracts of employment, drafting settlement agreements and a number of other contentious, operational and strategic employment law issues.

Academic Experience

Julianna studied European and International Law LLB at the University of Sheffield, with a year abroad at the University of Wisconsin. She graduated with a First in 2018 and is currently completing the CILEx programme at Stone King to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive in November 2021.


During her studies, Julianna volunteered at a refugee charity in Sheffield helping refused asylum seekers in the UK. On her year abroad, she also volunteered at a detention centre in Texas to support women and children with their asylum claims in the USA. Julianna currently volunteers as a Wellbeing Ambassador for the Immigration Law Practitioners Association (ILPA).
