Caroline Fell, in Stone King’s Family & Mediation Team is now a qualified child inclusive mediator.

This means she is able to meet with the children of clients accessing mediation due to divorce or separation, and ensure that their voices are heard in what can be a very challenging time.

Caroline qualified as a child inclusive mediator in July 2022 and joins Stone King Partner Rebecca Eels in being able to offer this service.

She said: “Although I am an experienced mediator for adults, different techniques are needed for working with children. This ensures that their voices are heard in the separation process and then can be reported back to parents to help them take their needs into account. Divorce and separation are hugely emotional times and can mean children’s voices can be lost when parents make decisions; mediation can make the process more child-focused and less confrontational, benefiting families.”

Government expectation is for all children over the age of 10 to be given the opportunity to have their voices heard when arrangements between their parents are being discussed.
