What is on Offer

The Department for Education is offering the following development grants to schools combining to set up a multi academy trust (MAT) including a majority of Primaries:

  • £100,000 will be offered to schools creating a MAT of at least three schools (including 2 primaries) plus an extra £10,000 for each school joining the new MAT, up to a maximum of £150,000.
  • Additional financial support for small primary schools (with under 210 pupils) joining the new MAT is also available through the Small School Supplement. Primaries with 100 pupils or less are eligible for £5,000 and those between 100 and 210 pupils are eligible for £2,000.
  • Each school receiving these grants is also entitled in addition to the usual £25,000 grant for academy conversion costs.

How we can help

Confederation of School Trusts (CST) is a leading school membership organisation with charitable status supporting schools wishing to maximise their autonomy and improve standards.  Stone King Solicitors have helped over 600 schools with their academy conversion and act for MATs of all sizes and types.  Together we can offer the breadth and depth of experience needed by schools to receive and use this grant wisely to ensure their MAT is launched successfully.
