In addition to leading our national Education Sector Group of over 80 lawyers, , Roger specialises in school governance and re-organisation (notably multi academy trusts or “MATs”), school finance, admissions and also all pupil provision issues, notably special educational needs (SEN). As a recognised national specialist regarding SEN and disability law, Roger also works as a Judge in the SEN Tribunal in addition to his role in Stone King.

As regards governance work, Roger is one of the trainers in the Department for Education’s Governance Leadership Programme, and advises many leading and emerging MATs on the development of their governance and risk assurance.
Roger contributes to the Education Sector more generally by working closely with the national schools membership organisations Confederation of Schools Trusts, the Institute of School Business Leadership (ISBL) and the Co-Operative Schools Network on education developments. Roger also speaks and writes regularly regarding education including contributions to Trust magazine, the Chartered Governance Institute, the BELMAS governance research group, and the Wellington Festival of Education.
Outside work Roger volunteers as a Trustee for a Post-16 Multi Academy Trust.
