In addition to leading our Education Sector Group of over 80 lawyers, Roger specialises in school governance and re-organisation (notably multi academy trusts or “MATs”), school finance, admissions and also all pupil provision issues, notably special educational needs (SEN). As regards governance work, Roger is one of the trainers in the Department for Education’s Governance Leadership Programme, and advises many leading and emerging MATs on the development of their governance and risk assurance. A recognised specialist regarding SEN and disability law, Roger works as a Judge in the SEN Tribunal in addition to his role in Stone King. Roger also works closely on education sector developments as the primary legal advisor for national schools membership organisations Confederation of Schools Trusts (ex FASNA), the Institute of School Business Leadership (ISBL) and the Co-Operative Schools Network. Outside work, Roger volunteers as a trustee for an SEN MAT and also a sixth form MAT.
